Special Use Zone (SUZ)
The Special Use Zone (SUZ) is one of the most dynamic, unique and popular spaces within the Richard Bong State Recreation Area. Originally engineered to serve as a launching point for military aircraft this flat, open area now offers unique recreational opportunities not usually available at State Parks. Please be aware of and observe all regulations, and be considerate of both the natural ecosystem and other users in the area.
Activities available: Hunting, dog training and trialing, model rocket and plane flying, wildlife watching, ATV & Dirt biking and horseback and bicycle riding. Activities in the SUZ area must be managed to insure compatibility. Check with management if you are planning an activity in the special use zone.
