Do you have a three, four or five-year old in your life? Want to get them and keep them excited about nature? Why not bring them to the Knee-high Naturalist Program?
The program began when two mothers of young children approached park staff and volunteered to start a pre-school program based on experiences in nature. Twenty-five years later the program is still going strong and still led by volunteers. We have had Knee-high Naturalist alumni visit the park to tell us they are in college for natural resources!
The program meets from 10am-11:30am on the second Thursday of every month except December. Each month the program topic changes and is filled with fun age-appropriate activities. A story is almost always included as is an outdoor exploration. The children may also complete a craft, play a game or eat a snack. Siblings are also welcome. If the weather isn’t cooperative, the program is still held but the topic may change.
The program is free, supported by grants and the Friend’s group at the park but you will need a sticker on your vehicle to enter the park. The fee is $8/day or $28/year for cars with Wisconsin plates. We do limit attendance to have a high-quality program so please call (262) 878-5601 to pre-register or to cancel.
