About Richard Bong State Recreation Area
Richard Bong State Recreation Area offers something for everyone. Activities available include walking, running, bicycling, swimming, canoeing, fishing, camping, picnicking, in-line skating, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, or snowmobiling. Richard Bong offers an area where visitors may fly hang gliders, hot air balloons, and model airplanes and rockets. The park also has places to train dogs, train falcons, ride an ATV trail, go horseback riding, and hunt in season.
What is a recreation area?
A recreation area differs from state parks and forests by providing for recreational facilities & activities not traditionally found in state parks or forests. Richard Bong State Recreation Area (RBSRA) has a Special Use Zone that encompasses 1,200 acres. Special uses add color, interest, and variety for visitors and make Richard Bong State Recreation Area a unique place. A state park admission sticker is required on all motor vehicles. You can buy either an annual sticker, for admission to all state parks and forests for the calendar year, or a daily sticker, valid only on the date of issue.
Where are we located?
Richard Bong State Recreation Area is located in the northwest corner of Kenosha County. 30 minutes from Milwaukee and 90 minutes from Chicago.
Seven miles southeast of Burlington on State Highway 142.
